1. Your Bike

It is important that the information you provide throughout the quote and duration of your policy is accurate. Failure to disclose correct and complete information to the best of your knowledge and belief may result in increased premiums, refusal of a claim or not being fully paid, your policy being cancelled or being made null and void.

  Can't find your bike?

Let us give you a helping hand with your quote...

There are two ways you still might be able to find your bike on our list.

Check that the make is the full manufacturer name and that you have the exact cc

Bike Make -

The manufacturer name you are looking for may be written slightly differently. For example, Piaggio is Vespa-Piaggio.

Bike cc -

We have used cc ranges to give you a shorter list to search through but sometimes a bike may be on the edge of the range. For example 599cc and not 600cc so it will be under a different category. Check the exact cc of your bike or you can select "All engine sizes" to see a full list of bikes for the selected manufacturer.

If your bike is brand new or less common, under “Bike Make” look for your bike manufacturer by selecting the first letter of the manufacturer name e.g. for a Yi Ying bike you would select “Y – Other”

You then select the “Year of registration” and the “Bike cc”. The “Bike model” list will then display all non standard manufacturers and models displayed in the list that don’t have an ABI code.

Still need help?

What is an ABI code?

Most brokers & insurers will use a standard bike list that is produced by the ABI (Association of British Insurers). Sometimes if the bike is a brand new or less common model the manufacturer may not have registered this with the ABI and it will not be on the list yet.

As the UK’s number one for bike insurance, we have special arrangements in place, which allow us to quote for manufacturers & bikes that are not on the standard ABI lists.

If on checking the list you cannot find your bike or have any queries please call one of our trained service staff on

All of the bikes we insure should be found in this list so please take a moment to ensure you have selected the correct details. The official documentation from the DVLA on your bike will help you to find the correct make, year of registration and cc. Once you have selected the make, year of registration and cc, the bike model list will display the bikes fitting this criteria. If you are unable to find your bike please click here.

We have selected these from the information you provided us about the make, year of registration and cc. Please select the model of your motorcycle from this menu. If you cannot find the model of your bike you may want to check on your documentation to see if you are selecting the correct information. For example sometimes a bike know as an 1000cc will officially be a 999cc and therefore in a different category. If you are still unsure or can’t find your bike, click here.

Modifications are road legal changes to your bike that enhance performance or value. We don't cover removable accessories like tank bags or satellite navigation systems and we don’t need to know about like-for-like replacement parts, i.e. changed as a result of wear-and-tear or damage (original equipment manufacturer or similar specification).

Examples include:
  • Changes to the bodywork, such as carbon fibre parts or fairings added
  • Changes to suspension or brakes
  • Cosmetic changes such as special paintwork or murals
  • Changes affecting performance such as changes to the engine management or exhaust system

Please be aware that this is not a full list of all possible changes- all changes made from the manufacturer’s standard specification must be disclosed.

After you have purchased the policy, you will be sent an agreed value request form along with your policy documents. If you wish to have an agreed value on your policy you will need to fill in this form and send it to us along with pictures and other supporting evidence to help us confirm the value is correct. Market value applies until the valuation has been agreed by us and by you. See FAQ's for further information.

Please tell us approx how many miles you expect to travel a year on your bike in the next year. If unsure, just simply mulltiply your average weekly amount by 52.

Discounts maybe available for certain security devices if you meet certain criteria. Please select the device for your bike from the list provided.

Shipping container: Securely-locked and of sound construction, located on your own property and access into it cannot be shared with anyone outside your household.
Wooden shed: Securely-locked and of sound construction. If it has no floor of its own, the walls must be securely fixed to a concrete base. If it has a wooden floor, this must be securely fixed to the shed’s walls, and the shed must be sat on a solid concrete base or concrete paving slabs. The shed must be located on your own property and access into it cannot be shared with anyone outside your household.

If you are unsure as to whether you should include your condition, please tick yes. On the next page you will get a drop down list where you can specify the condition even if it is minor. Always include your conditions since not declaring them may cause your insurance to be invalid. Medical conditions include major conditions and more minor conditions such as diabetes, anxiety attacks or asthma.

Enter your postcode then click on 'Find Address' and choose an address from the dropdown menu. You can amend the details of the address if needed after you have made a selection.

If you've passed your CBT only, choose 'Provisional'. If you will be riding on your car licence which you acquired before 1st February 2001, please choose 'Provisional'. Only choose 'Full' if you hold a Full UK Motorcycle Licence.

Learner moped and motorcycle riders must have completed a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course before riding a moped or motorcycle on the road. However, the requirement to complete CBT does not apply to those riders who are:
1) learning to ride a motorcycle and who have already obtained full moped entitlement as a result of passing a moped test on or after 1 December 1990, or
2) riding a moped with full entitlement given automatically with a full car licence. For CBT enquiries please contact the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Bennetts can issue a cover note if you have a provisional licence and need insurance cover to take your Compulsory Basic Training.

If you have been riding for more than 5 years with a full licence, then choose '5'.

If you've passed any advanced riding qualifications please select it from the list below which will appear if you select "yes". These are the current qualifications Bennetts recognises.

This includes speeding fines (fixed penalty offences) as well as other motoring offences.

This question relates not just to your motorcycle but also any other vehicle you may have used regardless of whether you made a claim on your insurance at the time.

Bennetts offer "third party only", "third party fire and theft" and "fully comprehensive" insurance. Fully comprehensive is the most complete cover and covers your own bike as well as any damage to another person or bike. If you need some details on the differences, please see the FAQs. After we give your quotation you will have another opportunity to change the type of cover.

Your NCD must be relevant to your bike - your car NCD cannot be used. This is because riding a bike is very different to driving a car. We will consider riding experience as well as no claims bonus in assessing your insurance cover. Please note that the same no claims bonus cannot be used on two policies at the same time.

Your policy documents will confirm whether proof of no claims discount is required. If proof is required you will need to provide valid proof within 21 days of your policy start date. If you do not do this the cost of your policy will increase, or in some cases, be cancelled.

NCD proof needs to show the expiry date of your previous insurance, must not be more than 2 years old and must show the NCD entitlement in years.

Business use should be selected if you will use your bike for any work journeys outside of your regular commute to one place of work. Business use will be restricted to the proposer (main policy holder). However, business use does not include professional biking such as couriers, despatch riding or food delivery. This requires specialist insurance which Bennetts are unable to provide.

If you plan to ever carry a pillion passenger, please let us know so we can provide you with the right cover.
